SAMMA and the IAAC (Indo American Arts Council) are proud to announce a LIVE WEBCAST EVENT with global music icon & industry legend ZAKIR HUSSAIN on the heels of his highly anticipated NYC "Masters of Percussion" concert at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on Saturday March 29th, 2014. A rare opportunity to hear Zakir Hussain, one of the world's most distinguished and heralded Indian classical artists and pioneer, hear Zakir discuss the upcoming "Masters of Percussion" tour, the global music industry, his career in music and the future of world music at-large. Interviewing will be Radha Mehta SAMMA Co-Chair, vocalist, and a Board Member with The Recording Academy and Zeyba Rahman, former Chairwoman of the World Music Institute and a Program Officer of the Arts for the Duke Charitable Foundation. About Zakir Hussain and the Masters of Percussion Tour Zakir Hussain is widely regarded as a pioneer of the contemporary world music movement bringing Indian classical to jazz, rock and pop. A Grammy winning artist who has collaborated with Miles Davis to Journey's Steve Smith to Van Morrison, he is regarded as one of the world's great musical icons. Masters of Percussion, an outgrowth of Hussain's memorable tours with his father, the legendary Ustad Allarakha. Joining the 2014 tour will be Selvaganesh Vinayakram (Kanjira and Ghatam), Steve Smith (Western Drums), Niladri Kumar (Sitar), Dilshad Khan, (Sarangi), Deepak Bhatt (Dhol), Vijay Chavan (Dholki). New York will also see the great vocalist Padmashri Hariharan.
